Planning your wedding flowers is a critical step in making your wedding dreams come true. Choosing the wrong colors or the wrong flowers can be avoided though by meeting with a floral designer whose expertise can assist you in choosing the best color palette and flowers!
We at Lisa Foster Floral Design offer some helpful hints to assist you with your choices!
Let’s go over some items our floral designer will need to know to assist in keeping your stress level down.
Date and Time of Your Wedding
First, we will confirm that we are available on the date of your wedding. Twelve months or more is not too early to choose the date, time and venue for your wedding. We need to know the time your photographer will want to start pre-ceremony photos. This will assist us in scheduling the best time for delivery of your flowers.
We at Lisa Foster Floral Design often start planning with our brides a year or more before their wedding to ensure the date is reserved. When you contact us to discuss your wedding flowers, we do a free consultation and discuss the different aspects of planning your wedding.
We love working with wedding planners or day of coordinators. If you choose not to use a wedding planner or coordinator, your photographer will most likely supply the wedding day timeline.
Your Color Palette
What color(s) have you chosen? We will need to know the color of your bridesmaids’ dresses. Since there are so many different shades of blues, greens, pinks, oranges, etc., it is helpful if you have a photo or piece of fabric showing the exact shades of color you prefer. Color and flower choices will depend on the season of the year and the venue.
Once we know the style you prefer, whether traditional, contemporary, modern, or other styles, and your color palette, we can determine the best floral combinations to create your dream bouquet. If you have pictures, Pinterest Board ideas or any other descriptions, please bring those with you to your first consultation.
Before your consultation, please visit our website to see examples of our designs. You can also see our designs on Facebook
or our Instagram page. Our designers take great pride in their work and want to ensure that your flowers are perfect for your special day!
The Wedding Party
We will need to know how many bridesmaids, groomsmen and ushers you plan to include. Will your minister need a boutonniere or a corsage? Will you have a flower girl and ring bearer? Do you want a floral crown for your flower girl? If so, we will need her head measurement. Do you want pin-on corsages, wristlets or a single stem flower for your mothers and grandmothers? Are there any other members who will need flowers?
Lisa Foster Floral Design has worked with most of the venues in Knoxville and surrounding counties. If we aren’t familiar with the venue you have chosen, we can arrange an on-site visit. There are some venues that use preferred florists, so make sure we are on that list.
If your reception is being held at a location other than your ceremony venue, we can transport the altar pieces, arbor cages and other ceremony flowers from the ceremony location to the reception. We recommend using bridesmaids’ bouquets as table centerpieces at the reception. This allows everyone to enjoy the floral arrangements, and it reduces your expenses.
We also have wooden arbors, pipe and drape, lanterns, candelabras and many more items available! You can see them on the rental tab of our website.
We are extremely sensitive to your budget. We want to ensure each bride has the flowers that will make the wedding beautiful and complete. We do not have a minimum price, and we will work with you to stay within your floral budget. We can suggest other flowers that are less expensive, and any other ways you can cut costs.
We will discuss whether you will need to return the vases or rentals. There are some rentals that require our designers to remove and return them to our location. There are no hidden costs. Our designers will list every cost associated with our services.
Three weeks before your wedding we will meet with you and confirm the information from your first consultation. If you need to add anything or remove anything from the initial consultation, this is the last time to make those changes. We are under strict timelines to contact our growers to ensure your flowers will be delivered on time for the design process to begin.
After your initial consultation and the confirmation that you want us to do your wedding flowers, you pay a non-refundable retainer that counts toward the total cost of your flowers and any rentals. This retainer ensures your wedding date on our calendar. At your final consultation the final balance is due. We do not order flowers until the final balance is paid. This is why we must have your final consultation three weeks before your wedding.
We hope the above information has been helpful in planning your wedding. We love our brides and take great pride in presenting floral designs that will bring a smile to your face and compliments from your guests! Please let us know if you need additional information.
