Katrina and Preston’s summer wedding was breathtaking. The intimacy of their wedding ceremony, combined with their beautiful reception at the Jackson Terminal, is giving us all the feels! Read more about their special day from the bride, Katrina:
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
My husband has the most gentle, kind, and selfless heart. He goes above and beyond to help people in anyway he can. He is always dreaming of ways to make the most out of this life we are given and he inspires others to reach their greatest potential.
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
The colors for the wedding were inspired by that of succulent plants – blue, green, and grays as seen within the wedding party and flowers.
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
Our first dance song was “Sweetest Devotion” by Adele. The morning after we got engaged, this song came on in my car and I instantly pictured us dancing to it on our wedding day. It brought me so much joy and tears to my eyes. The song captures how far we have come, how precious Preston is to me, and how sweet the devotion of marriage is.
What traditions did you incorporate?
We had a traditional Lutheran ceremony with traditional organ music. I incorporated the “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, & a Sixpence in your Shoe” wedding tradition. The “something old” was my great-grandmother’s opal ring that was left to me, “something new” was my wedding dress, “something borrowed” was my grandmother’s diamond earrings, “something blue” was my American Flag toss garter, and the sixpence in my shoe was from my father’s coin collection which was dated with the year my mother was born.
Who is usually guilty of watching “your show” without the other?
We are pretty committed to only watching our shows together.I am just more likely to binge an entire season of a new show before Preston has a chance to get home from work.
Tell us about your grand exit!
We had an amazing sparkler send off! We loved it so much that we ran through it twice.
How would you describe your big day in 3 words?
BEST. DAY. EVER.
What was the most memorable moment?
Our wedding ceremony was amazing. Preston and Pastor Amy had a few surprises planned during the ceremony. Preston incorporated one of his favorite poems, “What is Success?” by Ralph Waldo Emerson into the service. I believe this poem captures the essence of who my husband is and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when the poem’s meaning was expressed. We were so fortunate to have the very talented organist with the voice of an angel, Debbie Sousa, to be apart of our ceremony. Debbie and Pastor Amy planned a special song for us that encapsulated the beauty of 1 Corinthians 13. It was perfect. We were completely blown away by the love that was flowing through us and all around us. We are so blessed to have experienced those special moments.
Congratulations Katrina and Preston from all of us at The Pink Bride!
