HAIR? Sexy Half Updo. MAKEUP? Romantically Flawless. NAILS? Nails? Oh, NO!

Whether your nails are at the top or bottom of your wedding to-do list, just be sure they make the cut! With so many details to consider,  a beautiful, timeless manicure should not be overlooked. Think about it – the bouquet toss, the photos, the new fabulous wedding band… the list goes on. With so many “hand duties”, dry, cracked cuticles and chipped nails are just not an option! To ensure you have the best wedding nails, here are my top seven tips:

1. Do a trial run!

Would you ever consider having your wedding hair and makeup done for the first time on your wedding day? I think not! A trial run gives you the opportunity to experiment with different shapes, lengths, colors, and glitz. I suggest scheduling trial appointment #1  at least 2-3 months before the big day.

2. Let the season move you.

You don’t have to match nails to YOUR  floral arrangement or even your wedding colors, but you can find inspiration in the flowers that are in season. If all else fails,  just keep it classic. You can’t ever go wrong with a soft sheer pink or a deep merlot color.

3. Try gel instead…

Instead of regular nail polish, try a gel manicure. The last thing you want on your wedding day is chipped nail polish. Gel tends to last at least 2 weeks and is perfect if you plan an immediate honeymoon.

4. Keep nail art simple

Nail art is all the rage right now, but it doesn’t always read “timeless” in wedding day portraits. Now, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a little fun. Consider using jewel-toned metallics to accent your jewelry, or neutral sparkles to complement your dress.

5. Toes, Too!

Don’t forget about your toes! No matter the dress length or the shoe style, get a pedicure done anyway. Besides, your toe’s nail color is a great way to incorporate your “something blue”.

6. Emergency Nail Kit!

You just never know what may happen to your beautiful manicure, so to avoid a day of disaster – be proactive. Have a nail file, cuticle clippers, cuticle oil, hand cream and a bottle of your wedding manicure nail polish, on-hand.

7. M.O.H + E.N.K

With all the goings-on of the wedding day, make sure to gift your Maid of Honor an emergency nail kit, too!
