If you are anything like us at The Pink Bride, you take great pride in your alma mater. Whether you grew up singing Rocky Top, cheered on the Georgia Bulldogs, or shouted “Roll Tide Roll” while sporting that certain shade of crimson, nothing can compare to the deep- rooted sense of love people feel for their university. For many of us attending college, it meant finding a second home, becoming immersed in new people, cultures and experiences and meeting that special someone. With football and wedding season in full swing, here are eight ways to showcase your school pride in your big day.
The Location
What better way to incorporate your alma mater than by getting married there! There are several universities that allow people to host a wedding on campus. If you and your significant other met there, you can start the next chapter of your life as a married couple where it all began!
Use your school colors
An awesome way to give credit to your school is by using their colors as your own. Try picking out bridesmaid dresses and grooms ties that feature your university colors.

Play your fight song
Did you go to the University of Tennessee? How about playing “Down the Field” at your reception? There is nothing cooler than playing your fight song before, during or after the wedding. Whether by an actual band or played on a speaker, it’s sure to get your guests excited for the vows.
Decorate the cake
One of the sweetest – and delicious- ways to give a shout out to your university is by adding elements of your alma mater to your cake. Try a unique cake topper with the team logo or mascot.

Get creative with table settings
With so many couples trying to decide on what to do with table settings, we have come up with some sure- fire ways to have your wedding party cheering. Name your tables at the reception based on buildings on campus or other special things associated with your school. You can also try taking pictures around campus holding numbers and then print them out and frame them to use as table numbers at the reception.
Throw what you know
If you and your hubby went Greek in college, incorporate your letters into your ceremony, reception or even your dress. Some couples choose to wear their pins on their wedding day attire or use them as part of their table settings or bouquet. Almost every Greek organization has a flower that is special to them. Try using them as your floral arrangements or handing them out to guests to wear. Another way to celebrate your sorority or fraternity is by getting married on Founder’s Day, that way your ceremony will be even more special to you!
A toast to your alma mater
When making your wedding toast, be sure to include one to your alma mater. Make sure to decorate your glasses with your school logo and colors!
A grand exit
And finally, hand out some pom-poms to your guests in your school colors to be waved as you make your grand exit. Take time to reflect on what your alma mater means to you and your new spouse and wave goodbye as you begin your new life together!
