We can’t get enough of Cathryn and David’s classic white chapel wedding with the perfect shades of golds, pinks, and greenery. Whitestone Country Inn holds so much beauty with their lake views and rolling hills. Read all about this enchanting day below!

How did you meet?

“It all began with a swipe. We met on Bumble in August of 2018! Typically, I prefer to maintain a conversation via messaging for five days before agreeing to meet; however, I agreed to meet David merely three days after matching on Bumble because our conversations were so great. We met at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and the rest was history. I knew he was a winner when he fully accepted and supported the fact that cheesecake was my dinner for the night. I drove away knowing I would be seeing him again.”

When did you know you were falling in love?

“Our relationship was a whirlwind. We dated for four months before getting engaged. I had very specifically prayed, ‘Lord bring me my person, and that He do it soon and make it obvious.’ That prayer couldn’t have been answered more clearly. Our relationship was natural and there was undeniable connection. It is hard to pinpoint exactly when I knew I was falling in love, I just knew I always was. David is easy to love. He treats me better than I could’ve ever dreamed and being with him was not just an option, it was a necessity. David says he knew that he was falling in love when he realized the thought of not being with me made it hard to breathe. He says that this began to happen within the first week of us knowing each other.”

What is your favorite quality in your husband?

“David says his favorite quality of his wife is: Her heart. It’s her heart for kids that makes her so good at her job as a teacher. It is her heart that makes her a loyal granddaughter, daughter, sister, wife, and friend. It is her heart that will make her a good mom. And it is her heart that loves me.

My favorite quality of David is: His intentionality. He is thoughtful and intentional, always making decisions that will benefit us as a team. The flowers in our home are endless. He packs my lunch before work. He wakes up each morning and tells me he loves me. His actions and words are a direct reflection of him wanting to live his life for Christ and be a Godly husband.”

Hardest part of wedding planning?

“The guest list was definitely the most difficult! My parents had a wedding of 500+ people. My sister’s wedding had over 300 in attendance. We decided for a smaller wedding of 150. It was incredibly difficult to trim the list from 500 to 150. It is impossible to do it without hurting someone’s feelings or fearing that you left someone out. In the end, it all worked out and we enjoyed sharing the day with everyone who could make it!”

Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?

“Knowing that Whitestone has such a gorgeous landscape and the most beautiful and classic white chapel and reception building, I wanted to go for a timeliness approach. It couldn’t be stamped as the ‘barn wedding’ era or the ‘urban wedding’ aesthetic; it was timeless, classic, and exuded beauty through its vast green hills, lake views, and white colonial structures. In addition, I love gold, pinks, and greenery! I wanted to incorporate these three colors throughout the wedding. Swank executed our vision perfectly with the bouquets and table settings.”

How about your dress or attire?

“’The Dress’ was found on day one of the dress shopping experience and day two of engagement! All Dressed Up was the second store my mom and I went to that day. We were not set on buying anything, but the dress found us. I was open to different styles. The only non-negotiable was straps. Straps were a must! When I tried on the dress and stepped into the showroom, my mom and I immediately started tearing up. It was the one. The dress fit perfectly. The only alteration needed was the taking up of the straps. It was embroidered with lace and delicately incorporated sparkles. The waist line was highlighted by a floral accent with gold and silver gems. The straps even had the finest detailing. Every aspect of the dress was flawless. It was comfortable, a perfect fit, and unique. My shoes were a cheap buy off amazon, but had lace that worked beautifully with my dress. They also had laces that wrapped around my ankle, and I was obsessed!”

What was the most memorable moment?

“The most memorable moment for us was the first look. It was such a special moment to be able to see each other and exchange gifts prior to the ceremony. It was quiet, emotional, and joyful. I gave David an engraved watch, as well as personalized cufflinks with our picture in them and a handmade scrapbook of our time together. He gave me a ring. I had previously lost a family ring that meant a lot to me, so David searched and found a similar ring to replace my heirloom. I cried tears of joy because, even in the loss of an old ring, we created a new family heirloom. We just treasured that time together!”

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?

“Our first dance song was ‘Love Someone’ by Lukas Graham. It was an obvious choice for us. One day while we were dating, David came by after work saying he had a song he wanted me to hear. He had heard it on the radio earlier that day. We sat in the car and he played the song for me. I was already a big Lukas Graham fan, and absolutely fell in love with the song! Since then, we have been playing the song at least once every car ride!”

Tell us about your grand exit!

“The reception came to a close after a time of speeches, good food, dancing, cake and coke floats! For our exit, guests lined up by the gazebo and held sparklers for us while we ran through the bright lights! We ran straight to the car that was painted by our bridal party. It was a classic exit, where we took off and didn’t look back! Onto the honeymoon we went.”
