If there’s one word that is synonymous with an event thrown in the South – it has to be hospitality. It’s embedded in our roots from the day we’re born. We love to have a good time, and we like to make sure everyone else is, too. That’s exactly why Southern celebrations are some of the best to attend!
These lovely photos by Jessica Lee Photographic Art are the perfect guide if you want to throw a wedding full of that famous Southern charm.
First, let’s talk about the setting of the perfect party below the Mason-Dixon. Most of us Southern girls love to be outdoors, and our weddings are no exception. We can enjoy Mother Nature in all her glory as she provides the lush green grass, gorgeous trees in full bloom, and that magical golden light we all adore.
Fresh flowers are definitely the way to my heart, especially magnolias. I mean, what’s a more Southern flower? It’s completely versatile, so you can use it in various aspects of your decor! Hang it along with some mason jar lights for the perfect DIY chandelier, or use it as a table runner. My favorite way to incorporate it is of course the bouquet! Paired with blue delphiniums (to match the groom’s classy jacket I might add), carnations, and cotton, this bouquet is simply divine and perfect for both the rustic and classic bride.
A truly Southern soiree wouldn’t be ideal with a touch of timeless elegance. Pair your natural decor aspects with delicate china and silver flatware for the perfect complements. A classic ball gown with lace detail and a sweetheart neckline is a time-tested favorite! The soft dashes of baby blue add the perfect amount of color and polish to the whole day, and I couldn’t love it more!
What’s an absolute must for an ideal Southern wedding for you?
