We met at Tennessee High in 2005. He was a senior, and I was a freshman. We began dating that March and have been together ever since. We got engaged over a family vacation on June 28, 2012, at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, FL. I’m a big Harry Potter fan, so the proposal (which took place on one knee in front of family and friends) was unique and very special. We were engaged for one year and almost two months.

Our big day was one of the greatest days we’ve spent together. We had a large bridal party who kept us calm and laughing while we were getting ready and during pictures. Surprisingly, there were no tears; we came close once or twice, but managed to stay calm and collected. The first look was very special. Jim and Krisna cleared out the sanctuary and took some posed shots, as well as shots of us just being ourselves together. We got time alone just to talk, which was great. One thing that was completely unplanned and unexpected was the karaoke at the reception…in the spirit of the party, we, our wedding party, and several other friends and family members jumped onto the stage to sing “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Our colors were royal blue and mint green, which came together beautifully at our baseball-themed reception! We named the tables after MLB stadiums and used baseballs in our centerpieces. The groom’s cake table had a glove, ball, and personalized wooden bat as its decoration.

We had amazing wedding professionals, and they made everything go so smoothly. Denise Spears helped us so much with tips on decorating and did a beautiful job on the flowers. Jim and Krisna Goodwin are a dream team! We had a blast working with them. They make such an effort to get to know the couple they’re working with, and that means a lot when you’re looking for someone to photograph the biggest day of your life! Robbie Britton was absolutely fantastic! He kept the party going all night, and the dance floor was never empty. We had an amazing day with the help of all of our fantastic wedding professionals!

We are huge Disney fans, so we spent the week following the wedding at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. We planned it together but used Amy Carver with Pixie Vacations to book our resort and help with dining reservations. My advice for brides is to not stress over the planning. Everything will come together. Remember that the pageantry isn’t important – the most important thing is that you get to marry the person you love more than anything in the world!
