The color palette from this wedding alone will make you fall in love, but wait until you hear the sweet details like how Carrie’s 90 year old grandfather walked her down the aisle! You can tell from one glance at the photos how in love these two are, and we’re just as smitten with their wedding! Start scrolling to see it all below! And don’t miss her stunning wedding dress from Ballew Bridal!
How did you meet?
“TJ and I actually met on a dating site back in 2013 when it wasn’t cool yet. We texted back and forth for a couple of months before having our first date at a country concert at The Lyric.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“As crazy as it sounds, I swear I knew I loved him when we met! I almost didn’t go on our blind date because I was tired, but I’m so glad that I did. It was so romantic and he was so charming, I was head over heels right away. Since then, seeing his love for Christ and his dedication to our family (we’ve got fur babies) makes me fall more and more in love with him.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“My favorite quality in TJ is his willingness to serve others.. whether this be at the church, for an old neighbor, for a coworker, for MY friends, he gives his all to help everyone around him with a smile on his face and it’s just so inspirational to watch.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I love everything about fall, but especially the colors so I knew that I wanted a fall wedding with the burgundy and navy. The blush ended up being incorporated because the flower girls just looked too perfect in their ivory and blush dresses! I also had a fantastic florist who actually used my Pinterest board to decorate in the style that I wanted by using pretty fall colors and lots of elegant greenery.”
How about your dress or attire?
“I was very open to trying multiple styles of wedding dresses. My bridesmaids and I all loaded up and headed to Ballew Bridal for a day of trying them on and when I walked out with the ballgown with sleeves (the third dress I tried on), everyone knew that was the one! Every dress I tried on after that earned responses of ‘That just doesn’t compete with number 3!’ and it really was such a perfect dress.”
“Also, I told my bridesmaids to pick whatever they were comfortable in as long as they were long (only because it would be chilly) and burgundy and they all ended up picking the same exact dress!!”
Did you include any wedding traditions?
“We did the ‘Something Old (we joked that my 90-year old grandfather was my something old..he walked me down the aisle..something that I will cherish forever), Something New (my dress, veil, shoes, and wedding jewelry were all new), Something Borrowed (we actually got to use the unity candles from his parents’ wedding), Something Blue (I had my toenails painted blue).’ We also had a groom’s cake which was so funny to his Minnesotan friends and family because it is definitely a Southern tradition.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“This is a tough one. I’d say most memorable of all was getting walked down the aisle by my 90-year old grandfather and getting to dance with him to ‘My Wish’ by Rascal Flatts. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the building because it was just so special that he was able to do that. There were also so many laughs during the ceremony and reception which fits our personalities so well and made for a magical night!”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Yours (Wedding Edition)’ by Russell Dickerson…. We chose this song because once while we were at a Thomas Rhett concert, Russell Dickerson opened up for him and told the sweetest story about why he wrote the song about his wife. TJ looked at me and said ‘IF we get married, this is going to be our first dance song.’ And it was!”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“Our grand exit ended with our closest friends and families leading us out the door with sparklers and it just felt magical! The entire wedding party stayed at Bonne Terre so we all got to have a yummy breakfast together the next morning to just reflect and enjoy each other.”
Best wishes Carrie & TJ from the entire Pink Bride team!
