LOVE STORY: We met while working at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Charlotte, NC. We both started our careers there right after finishing college. We were friends for around five years before we starting dating. One year after we started dating, Sean popped the question during a hiking trip in Asheville, NC.
WEDDING DETAILS: We were engaged for approximately 8.5 months. We did not hire a wedding planner. Thankfully, we had seven bridesmaids that were very helpful in the planning process. I also have two sisters who spent a lot of time meeting with vendors and finalizing details.
We live in Charlotte, NC, and most of our guests were traveling from out of town to celebrate with us on our wedding day. We wanted to make it easy for our guests traveling and make sure they had fun once they arrived. We created a wedding website and included the link on our invitation. The website included links to accommodations, local activities, as well as ceremony and reception details
The reception and ceremony were held at the Greenway Haven, a historic five-acre estate located in Abingdon, Virginia. Keeping in line with the look and feel of the venue, we went with a more traditional style / theme. We chose white and pale pink flowers, navy chiffon dresses for the bridesmaids, and grey suites with navy ties for the groomsmen.
WEDDING DAY: One fond memory that we both still laugh about today is the best man speech given by the groom’s brother. His brother recalled several childhood memories and spoke of the admiration that he had for Sean and how that admiration has grown as they have gotten older. Specifically, he recalled that he was most proud to call Sean his brother the day he told him he was starting a new hobby….home brewing.
WEDDING ADVICE: The best advice we can give a bride and groom planning their wedding is to step back, relax, and enjoy the process. Don’t stress over the small details because most people won’t notice anyway. Try to focus on the time you get to spend with each other and with your closets friends and family planning your big day. Your wedding day passes by so quickly, and it is hard to remember everything. Take a few moments on your wedding day to just look around and enjoy being surrounded by so many of your loved ones that have gathered to celebrate your new life together.
