If you’re like me, you hear the words “Halloween wedding” in a sentence and feel a tinge of excitement…along with a little bit of apprehension. Halloween weddings – or Halloweddings, for short – can often be quite overdone to look more like a Halloween frat party than an actual wedding. However, if you’re like the majority of Americans who harbor a love for this scariest of holidays, you’re in luck! A number of options exist for creating a fabulous and classy Halloween-inspired wedding that guests of all ages will love. Here are just a few of my favorite options for a spooky celebration of love!

1. A Spooky Wedding Invitation

As I’ve stated before on the blog, your invitation sets the tone for your wedding by telling guests what they can expect: formal, casual, trendy…or themed. Make sure your wedding invitation gives guests a hint of what to expect so that they’re not surprised on the big day!

2. Wedding Attire Fit for a Halloween Bash

Subtle can be key here with a white gown sporting a black sash. Or, you can really make a fashion statement in a fabulous nontraditional black wedding gown like the styles featured below by Vera Wang. Complement the look with a chic “black” calla lily and feather bouquet and matching boutonnière for your groom, and have your bridesmaids opt for bouquets with lovely pops of orange. Don’t limit yourself to black on their dresses, however! A range of colors may be totally appropriate for your bridal party that complement the theme, such as deep purple, harvest orange, or even gold or cream with colored accents to soften the look!

3. Unique Seasonal Wedding Ceremony Décor

Make your Hallowedding décor ultra chic with gorgeous floral arrangements and classy décor, like pictured in the image below! The color scheme and your bridal party attire will pull the entire theme together effortlessly. Add to the classy décor with a little tongue-in-cheek message on a pumpkin or two at the altar, such as “Til Death Do Us Part…” Adorable!

After the ceremony, it’s time to party! Pull your Halloween theme throughout in a classy fashion by using dramatic décor with spooky color contrasts, cute signage, and themed escort cards your guests will love!

5. Chilling Wedding Cake

As the centerpiece to your reception meal, your wedding cake should definitely translate your wedding’s theme. While this option definitely can get incredibly spooky (think Corpse Bride cakes – eek!), a classy Halloween-themed wedding likely should sport a sweet cake with a few seasonal details both guests and the camera will adore.

Finally, show guests you thought of them with spooky signature drinks and guest favors at the end of the night, and they’ll be screaming about your celebration for years to come.
