This beautiful spring wedding at the Knoxville is a show stopper! With a dream team consisting of Waldorf Photographic Art, Melissa Timm Designs, All Occasions Party Rentals, and more, we knew it was bound to be stunning! Not to mention, the irresistible color scheme! This wedding will definitely brighten your day!
How did you meet?
Megan: “We met in Las Vegas in the fall of 2015. Jared was in his final year of medical school at the University of Nevada, and I had just moved back to Nevada after finishing graduate school in Chicago.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“We realized that we were falling in love and very serious about each other when we began concretely mapping our long term plans after Jared matched with UT Medical Center for residency just three months after we started dating. Since he would be here for five years, we knew we had to make some big decisions about what that meant for us as a couple, and fortunately, we were both already on the same page about building a future together and having a family someday.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“Because it was spring and in the art museum, we chose to have Melissa Timm create this amazing, huge floral centerpieces with brightly colored flowers that reflected both the time of year and the location.”
How about your dress or attire?
“I felt like my choice of dress, which was a satin a-line dress from Essence of Australia, was very timeless and understated but I still felt really beautiful in it.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“It’s hard to choose just one moment from the day, but our first look was probably the most exciting because it was the first time Jared saw me in my dress and it was also the last time we saw each other before the ceremony. We also wrote letters to each other that we exchanged during the first look. They were really funny and sweet. We will treasure them forever because they are great reminders of all the reasons we chose each other.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“We had a traditional Catholic wedding at the brand-new Sacred Heart Cathedral. Even though it’s a new worship space, it feels very old and looks a lot like the churches in the Northeast, where I grew up. Incorporating our faith into our wedding was very important to us.
Another important tradition we included was a memory table. Jared’s grandfather passed away just a few weeks before our wedding after a lengthy illness, so having his grandma be able to attend was bittersweet. We absolutely loved having her there, but we know it was difficult for her to be there without her husband. April 14th is also the anniversary of my maternal grandmother’s passing. Being able to have their photos, as well as photos of so many of our other loved ones who have died, was a reminder that they were dancing along with us in heaven.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“We chose an acoustic version of ‘Ten Feet Tall,’ an EDM song by Afrojack, which reminded us of when we used to live in Las Vegas.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“Bill Waldorf, our photographer, took a wonderful last photo, where we are standing still on the dance floor and everyone else is moving all around us. It’s really cool and artsy, and it’s also a great reminder that in the midst of all of life’s craziness, we always have each other to hold onto.”
Congratulations Megan & Jared!
