THE PROPOSAL: It was the 25th of June, and Cody mentioned he wanted to go look at the overlooks at the Breaks Park. It was getting sunset when we arrived at the park, and I wanted to get some pictures before the sun went down, so Cody rushed me on while he stayed behind to “grab something.” I was standing at the overlook taking pictures when he showed up. He sat down on the rock beside of me and said, “We will have to come back here every year.” This statement confused me considering the park was only 20 minutes away from our hometown. He then said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” At that moment, I turned around to find him knelt down on one knee with a jewelry box opened revealing the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. I gasped and covered my mouth while he asked me to marry him. I of course said “Yes!” We hugged and cried together and took in the moment. It felt like something out of a fairytale.

WEDDING DETAILS: Cody and I were engaged for 2 years before we tied the knot. My mother was my saving grace when it came to planning my wedding. Mom and I loved to search on Etsy for inspiration. We would stay up all hours of the night searching on the internet for ideas. Whenever I would find something I wanted for the wedding, I would print it off and put it into my “Wedding Scrapbook.” It contained everything from flowers to dresses to table settings. Whenever I met with my wedding planner, Pam, I knew she was the right one because she was knowledgeable and very experienced.

The most important detail about my wedding was the venue. I fell in love with Harvest Acres Farm the moment I saw it. I knew that if I could have my wedding there, it would be the wedding of a lifetime. And it surpassed all of my expectations.

I have always loved the shabby-chic vintage look, so I incorporated that theme into all aspects of the wedding, including the colors of blush pink and cream. Cody and I wanted an intimate ceremony that focused not only on us, but our family also. Family is very important to both of us, so I used my maternal great-grandmother’s butterfly brooch for something blue, my great-great grandmother’s necklace for something old, my paternal great-grandmother’s silver pieces on the reception tables as something borrowed and I also used lace from my mother’s wedding gown to tie my bouquet together.

Pam did a marvelous job at tying all of my visions and ideas together to make the wedding of my dreams.

WEDDING DAY: The weekend all started when I woke up to no electricity the day before the wedding! Thankfully, the bridesmaids and I planned to stay the night at the Martha Washington Hotel that evening. The day of the wedding, I was very excited! All morning, I was hoping and praying that it wouldn’t rain since the ceremony was outside. Little did I know, my wedding day was one of the hottest days in July at 97 degrees. Our wedding day all came together and was everything I ever wanted; romantic, elegant and intimate. It was a dream come true!
