You want to look and feel your best for your wedding day, and we are here to help you with that! The Pink Bride spoke to Alexandra Thieme from iLoveKickboxing Chattanooga, and she gave us her favorite workout tips so we could share them with all of you!

1. Hydration is Key

While this isn’t exactly a workout tip, it is one of the most important things when it comes to fitness and health. You have to stay hydrated! Alexandra explains that not only do you need to be drinking lots of water, but fruits and veggies also help keep you hydrated and should be a part of your meals every day.

2. Feel the Burn with Burpees!

Alexandra feels that burpee’s are one of the best exercises because they work out your whole body at once. Not only are burpee’s great for fitness, but she explained how they have a real world application in that they can help you be able to get up and moving faster in an emergency situation. Win-win!

3. Squat for Success

Squats are one of the most popular exercises right now because everyone is trying to build that booty! For an even more challenging squat that concentrates on your inner thighs, Alexandra suggests turning your toes to the outside and doing a sort of plié, being sure to keep your knees over your toes.

4. Know How to Hook ‘Em!

Alexandra told us how she always incorporates hooks into her kickboxing classes, and one of the many reasons is because when you throw a hook you use your whole shoulder, glutes, and abs. It really works out your core, and knowing how to throw a proper hook is invaluable knowledge. Having an instructor like the professionals at iLoveKickboxing to teach you the correct form is so important!

5. Killer Kicks

Alexandra advises that you incorporate both front kicks and roundhouse kicks into your workout routine. Kicks help tone your legs as well as give you a good cardio session by getting your heart rate up. Roundhouse kicks also get your abs involved by forcing you to hold your core to properly position your body.

6. Partner Up!

Find a partner to do some exercises with! Alexandra suggests trying different two person exercises, such as throwing combo punches and having your partner catch it with a glove. Having a partner for your workout creates resistance and helps tone your arms, and also helps your hand-eye coordination by having to hit a smaller target. Plus, working out is more fun with a friend!

7. Work in Rounds

Alexandra explained how at iLoveKickboxing they do their exercises in rounds. More specifically, they do 6 rounds, each round being 3 minutes long. You can change up the rounds to incorporate a different exercise, thus working both your upper body and lower body, and getting your heart rate up!

8. Form is Everything!

You can do all the exercises above until you’re blue, but if you do them with incorrect form you won’t make any progress. Alexandra stresses the importance of correct form when doing any type of exercise, and kickboxing is certainly no different. To ensure that all the members of iLoveKickboxing do everything with proper technique, each class has multiple instructors to assist.
