Lauren and Johnny’s wedding is straight from a F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, and we are ALL about it! So about it (and the amazing photos from Dixie Pixel Photography) that we chose it as our cover for the newest issue of our Knoxville magazine. We won’t keep blabbing about how much we love it, instead hear from Lauren yourself!
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
Lauren: “My favorite quality in Johnny is how compassionate and generous he is. He would do anything for his friends and family, as well as for the homeless person on the street in need of a meal.”
How about Lauren?
Johnny: “My favorite quality in Lauren is her kindness and compassion. She’s thoughtful about others and the world around her, often putting those things first.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“After hanging out with him at a rooftop party and then dancing the night away barefoot at a bar, I kinda had a feeling that something special might be unfolding. I remember first laying eyes on him and thinking, ‘Wow, this guy is handsome!’ There was an energy between us and we couldn’t stop smiling.”
Who else’s heart just skipped a beat?
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“Johnny and I both prefer something old vs. something new, and we tend to gravitate toward things drenched in history. That being said, it should come at no surprise that we chose The Historic Southern Railway Station, built in 1903, to have our ceremony and reception. It was like stepping back in time. We decided to go with a Great Gatsby theme and be inspired by the roaring 1920’s.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“To my husband’s surprise, I chose our first dance song. It was ‘Dancing When The Stars Go Blue’ by Ryan Adams. It was the song we danced to on our first date as the sun was setting. It was also when we shared our first kiss.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“My husband is very much involved in the craft beer scene here in Knoxville. His best friend owns Knox Brew Tours, so we borrowed his bus as our ‘getaway’ car. A bunch of friends piled in and we drove off to our favorite bar to continue the party.”
Happy One Year Anniversary you two! We hope it’s been the best year yet!
