Celebrating love all month long! Well actually, we celebrate love 365/24/7, and it’s definitely one of the perks of the job. Especially when we get to share moments and details that are life-changing for our couples! Up next, Lexy & Chase’s love story and their downtown engagement!
About the bride-to-be!
“Hi! I’m Lexy Oliver! I’m from Birmingham, Alabama and went to Auburn University. I’ve lived in Nashville for 5 years and work in mergers and acquisitions.”
About her guy!
“My fiancé is Chase Kelley. He is from Chattanooga. He owns an apparel company in town. He’s the biggest Georgia Bulldog fan you’d meet. (somehow this works for this Auburn Tiger).”
How did you meet?
“It was Valentine’s Day 2015 and I, as usual, joined the boys to watch hoops and eat wings. Auburn was playing Georgia (you can guess how this goes). However, I wasn’t there to see Chase, our mutual friends introduced us that day. I was wearing a men’s blue jean button-down with the Auburn logo embroidered on the chest as my jacket that day. Chase jokes he hadn’t seen blue jean like that since 1992. I think this is when he first thought I was going to be different than the girls he’d known. Auburn won by only 1 point, so Chase was stuck spending the day listening to me brag. After a year and a half of friendship, flirting and many, many weekend trips for Chase to Nashville, I finally gave in to a first date in the Spring of 2016. We have different stories on how the date became a date, nonetheless our first date was a Jimmy Buffet concert with the rest of his friends or ‘goons’ wearing, our staple wardrobe, Hawaiian shirts. Chase moved to Nashville for me a couple months later.”
How did he ask?
“Have you ever seen King of Queens? Well, we’re Doug and Carrie, through and through. He’s the life of the party always making people laugh being a goon and I’m the responsible one just along for the laughs. The guy who played Doug, Kevin James, was in Nashville for a comedy show at TPAC. I bought us tickets in June to go in September. Little did I know he used this as the perfect excuse to get me dressed up. We got apps at Deacon’s before during which Chase suggested we walk to War Memorial before the show started. It was a hot night and we both run hot. He wouldn’t take his sports coat off which I should’ve known to be a sign of something being up. We walked over to the memorial which was all lit up right at sunset. We walked to every part of the plaza. I kept trying to leave to go inside the show but he was trying to stall for our friends to get in photograph position. He’d stall by saying, ‘Oh! just look at the Sheraton!’ (which is an older building, not very beautiful, and the ‘a’ wasn’t lit up..Sherton).
After pointing out a plethora of pointless scenery, our photographers were in position and in front of the most beautiful columns in a city that started our story, he proposed. We’ve been together for 4 years so I think I was in such shock that I really had no emotions. Once our friends popped out from behind a tree, it all felt real and my legs gave out (see the photo below to really show how shocked I was). We went to the show (which was a really perfect comedy break) and met all of our friends at the Oak Room afterwards.”
Have you set the date?
“We’re getting married on June 13, 2020 in Nashville. About 3 months after the engagement and well after setting the date and picking a venue, I was cleaning out the purse I wore our engagement night to wear to a Christmas function. I found the tickets to Kevin James. I would’ve never noticed it, had the date not now become so important, but printed on the tickets was my date of purchase – June 13, 2019.”
Congratulations Lexy & Chase!
We can’t wait to see your wedding!
