Kate and Meade’s Knoxville wedding mixed both elegant black and white decor with lush greenery and an idyllic setting at Castleton Farms to create a timeless garden wedding that is oh so dreamy! Even with both the bride and groom-to-be planning from two different states (and Tennessee wasn’t one of them), this day is unbelievably gorgeous! See more below!

How did you meet?
“Meade and I met while tailgating at a Tennessee football game with mutual friends in September 2014.”

When did you know you were falling in love?
“Meade and I have always supported one another’s dreams and ambitions. At least one of us has been in graduate school for our entire relationship. While it has the potential to be stressful, it instead challenges us and shapes us as a couple. He wholeheartedly encouraged my dream to pursue veterinary school and I cheered him on through medical school and now residency.”

What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“I love how we can always challenge each other’s minds. Bonus points if we can make each other laugh while doing so. We are so busy throughout the day that we look forward to and enjoy our time together – even if it’s only for five minutes.”

Hardest part of wedding planning?
“The most difficult part of wedding planning was doing so from 560+ miles away. I was in my first year of veterinary school in Michigan and Meade was in his first year of residency in North Carolina. Fortunately, our amazing mothers, (Julie Tate and Kathleen Edmunds) along with our wedding coordinator, (Danyelle McGrath), stepped in to facilitate meetings with vendors when we could not be in Knoxville.”

Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I envisioned an elegant and timeless wedding that also embraced my love of nature and the outdoors. We combined the boldness of black and white with a multitude of textures, florals, and greenery. Overall, it combined ballroom with garden wedding and was the perfect combination of what we envisioned for our wedding day.”

How about your dress or attire?
“I tried on SO many dresses. My mother and I were both exhausted. Finally, I walked into Loveliest and found the one I was looking for. It was the only place I visited that allowed me to see wedding dresses in natural light – a must-have for brides getting married outdoors.”

What was the most memorable moment?
“The best moment of our wedding day was when Meade and I read our written vows to each other privately. We had time to focus on our commitment to one another and to acknowledge the depth of the promises we were making to one another.”

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“Our first dance song was ‘Beyond’ by Leon Bridges. To us, it encompasses the joy of finding a lifelong partner and the excitement of looking forward to life together.”

Tell us about your grand exit!
“Our friends and family lined the walkway to the Manor house at Castleton. It was such a beautiful ending to the best day!”
