Shelbi and Dominic’s stunning wedding captured by Shanell Bledsoe Photography is giving us all the feels! This couple’s Knoxville inspired wedding was nothing short of perfection! Don’t take our word for it though. Check out all of the details from Shelbi below:
What is your favorite quality in your husband/wife?
I love how in sync we are. We finish each other’s sentences and know what kind of the day the other had just by how we pick up the phone. We’re very much complements to each other’s personalities and interests. I can’t wait to see how that part of our relationship grows!
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
There was no specific image that inspired me. More than anything I wanted to have a true Knoxville wedding. From the venue (where my great-grandfather left for WWII) to going to Ayres Hall after the reception where Dominic had proposed it was very much inspired by the city we love so much and call home.
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” Dominic started college as a music education major so he has a far better ear for music than I do. This was the one thing that he was really passionate about picking for the wedding and he chose this song. It couldn’t have been more fitting!
What traditions did you incorporate?
I had my father give me away. That was a moment I had dreamed about since I was a little girl. I had “something old” which was the cross my great-grandfather had carried in his wallet, “something new” my wedding gown, “something borrowed” my mother wears my great-grandmother’s wedding ring and I borrowed it for the ceremony, and my “something blue” was a little tradition from my sorority that was hidden in my bouquet. We followed the southern tradition of a wedding cake and a groom’s cake. My father wanted Dominic to have something at the wedding that was truly “his” so he made sure he had an awesome groom’s cake.
When did you know you were falling in love?
I dropped him off to his college dorm my freshman year and said “I love that man” to myself and giggled.
Tell us about your grand exit!
My grandparents had debated about whether to get us a set of china or to provide a “getaway” antique Bentley. My grandfather said “they have their whole lives to buy china, get the car.” We knew the exit had been taken care of but we didn’t know how exactly. We departed to “Rocky Top” (Dominic and I were both in the Pride of the Southland at UT), everyone was waving orange glow sticks, and we were posing for pictures and saying thank you and goodbye, then we saw the car. I couldn’t believe my grandparents had worked some serious magic! It was the perfect way to end such a wonderful day.
How would you describe your big day in 3 words?
Dreamy, FUN, and Classic
What was the most memorable moment?
Wow that is a very difficult question. My mother and grandmother helping me into my dress, my bridesmaids seeing me in my dress for the first time (Dominic and I didn’t do a first look), to waiting behind the closed chapel doors with my father, to seeing Dominic for the first time, to the bridal party, family, and us gathering behind the altar after the ceremony waiting to take pictures, to the toasts our friends gave, our first dance, the whole reception, it was just more than I had ever dreamed or hoped for! The whole day was so perfect!
Congratulations Shelbi and Dominic! We wish you the very best!
