I’ve been writing a lot lately about the importance of a personal wedding guest favor, but I’ve not quite given you any ideas as to what I mean by this. In today’s post, I want to give you five of my favorite finds so far when it comes to options for a personal wedding favor. From sentimental and meaningful to favors that truly make an impact on the world we live in, these wedding favors are sure to give your guests amazing conversation pieces and sweet memories when they finally leave your celebration. Read on for my favorite options!

1. Charity wedding favors that keep on giving long after the wedding is over

My personal favorite, these favors heighten awareness for a cause you and your hubby share, and they also go to do good in the world around us. (I also mentioned a similar option in my nontraditional wedding registry post!) Instead of spending $1-$5 on each guest favor that may only last a few hours (or get thrown in the trash on the way out), consider opting for a sweet charity wedding favor that will impress guests and continue helping others long after the big day is over.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Wedding Favors

The hubby and I decided to do this as our big wedding favor for guests at our wedding a few years ago. We donated to both St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and ASPCA, and both had fabulous options for letting guests know their presence in our lives truly meant the world to us. Everyone loved it!

By the way, if you opt for making your own “notices” to let guests know you’ve donated in lieu of a traditional wedding favor, rather than selecting to have the favors sent to you by these charities, your donation in honor of each guest will go even further to help your cause. Not sure how to do this, or want more info on options? Call your favorite charity or check out I Do Foundation today for more info.

2. Plantable wedding favors that delight guests and do good for the environment, too

Again, if you haven’t noticed, I’m all about doing good with your wedding. Some of my favorite wedding favors include baby tree saplings in cute, personalized pots as well as favor cards that can actually be planted and will grow flowers or herbs. Feel good going green with your wedding, give guests something to beautify their yards that will last, and help the environment all at the same time. That’s definitely a win-win-win!

3. Homemade jelly or desserts – or a local food favorite!

Although DIY guest favors can cause unexpected stress, when you’re okay with them truly being “homemade” – and when your wedding theme totally calls for this homey touch – few DIY wedding guest favors are cuter than homemade food favors. Just make sure you have killer labels and accents to dress them up with!

Great options include homemade jelly with a sweet label, little cupcakes in a tiny jar with your grandma’s prized cake recipe attached, cookies in cellophane bags adorned with a cute little sticker, or an adorable assembly for guests to make s’mores when they get home! Other popular suggestions include gifting local favorites, like RC Cola and Moonpies here in the South. (Or my personal fave…Dr. Enufs!)

4. Themed stainless steel utensils your wedding guests will love using

I’m all for any guest favor your guests can actually use after the big day, and a themed or personalized stainless steel utensil provides just that. Now, I’m not talking about huge items your guests will find awkward and weird. I’m talking about cute measuring spoons in heart shapes from a DIY wedding featuring a homemade dessert bar, adorable dove salt and pepper shakers for a foodie reception, an elegant bottle opener for a cocktail reception, or a lovely wine corker or precious wine-cork spreader for a vineyard themed wedding. The favor should tie into your ultimate wedding theme flawlessly to make sense, and you should make sure it has killer labeling. Your guests will think of you each time they use it!

5. Wedding favors featuring personal pictures!

You and your future hubby likely have Instagram linked on your iPhone or Android device, so put those lovely images to good use! Since they document where you two go and how much fun you have together, they’re the perfect option for fabulous personalized favors that ultimately tell a story. One suggestion I’ve found is personalized Instagram coasters or mugs for your guests! Just make sure you choose pictures that are beautiful and tell a story. You don’t have to make sure your faces are front and center on the image, either. After all…most of your guests won’t use items with your face on it in their own homes without feeling just a wee bit awkward about it!

There you have it! Five totally sweet, do-good, functional, memorable and personalized wedding guest favors for the biggest day of your life. Your guests will thank you for them later, and you’ll love giving them!
