There’s something about a New Year’s Eve wedding that makes it so fun! Megan and Joe’s downtown Nashville wedding is no exception! This celebration was full of fun, festive details and a dance party like no other! See it all below with Megan’s play by play of her special day!
How did you meet?
“As any true 21st century couple, we met on Tinder. Thank goodness for technology! Joe grew up in Roswell, Georgia and I went to the University of Georgia for college, while he went to the University of Tennessee. Many of Joe’s high school friends became friends of mine in college. However, it took many years later and multiple moves for us to both end up in Nashville and meet 2 years later.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“I knew I was falling in love with Joe about 6 months into dating when he went on a ski trip for the first time. I remember thinking that I hated saying goodbye & see you later. And that I never wanted to say that again.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“His adventurous side & sense of humor. Joe has a heart for thrill-seeking and knows how to make everyone around him laugh.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“Well, tambourines always make an appearance at a Brink family wedding. So while being hoisted into the air, the tambourine kept the party alive.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“We love to party and our friends do too. So we thought, why not New Years Eve? And then selfishly, we could have an extremely long wedding and get extra time with all our favorite people (even though it still didn’t feel like enough). So for us, we just wanted to Brink on the New Year with all our favorite people.”
How about your dress or attire?
“Anything sparkly, fun & New Years festive!”
What was the most memorable moment?
“The dance party. What a dance party! We love to dance. We aren’t good at it. But our friends and family gave up the best night of unstoppable dance moves to way too many Bruno Mars songs. It was the best.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Make You Mine’ by High Valley. After 2.5 years of dating, our wedding was the 20th one we went to together! 20! That’s a lot! So we had seen lots of the traditional songs and knew we wanted something different. I heard the song about 6 month before the wedding and fell in love with it. It just took me playing every other possible option for Joe to get on board and realize it was the perfect song too.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“Oh gosh. Well this was one for the books. Lots of bobby pins with a half up half down hairstyle and pop out streamers that stay connected to the canister made for a disaster. Let’s just say that about half way into getting into the elevator, my hair and the streamers made contact and it took about 20 seconds to get me unattached. Then only to get restuck. So Joe had to pick me up and carry me over his shoulder to the elevator while ripping me through streamers. Memorable yes. But I should have opted for bubbles.”
Congratulations Megan & Joe!
