Two years after meeting, on my 36th birthday, Erik mentioned that he had made dinner reservations. When I realized we were headed to 701 Restaurant again, I didn’t think much of it. Unbeknownst to me, he had shared his plan to propose with restaurant management. He had even created a menu, one that appeared to be identical to the restaurant’s menu. When our waiter brought out menus for both of us to choose dessert, I opened mine to find love poems and quotes in place of appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Needless to say, I was crying and shaking, and he hadn’t even popped the question yet. It was such a memorable night – of course, because he proposed, but also because of the effort he put into making the night so special for us. The icing on the cake was that he had already called my father earlier in the day to ask for my hand in marriage.

Our wedding day was so special to us because so many friends and family were present to celebrate our big day. We had guests travel from all over the United States including Hawaii, and even one of Erik’s oldest friends came from Switzerland. We count it a blessing that our wedding celebration meant so much to so many of our family and friends.

We really enjoyed working with Ace Photography. We took our engagement pictures a few days before the wedding and had a blast! On one of Erik’s first visits to Nashville, we visited the Parthenon. I thought he would really enjoy it since he is an architect. Well, that first trip gave us a morning with beautiful blue skies and a bright sun. Then, out of nowhere, we were caught in a pouring rain. Even that turned out to be perfect because we just sat, talked, and soaked up the scenery and the smell of fresh-cut, wet grass. During that first visit, we also visited Bicentennial Mall. Needless to say, these two spots had to be part of our list for engagement picture locations. Once our wedding day arrived, we were so comfortable in front of the cameras because we knew what to expect, and we felt like the Ace staff were old friends. We knew we wanted to invest in great photographers, but we didn’t imagine we’d love our pictures as much as we do.
