Get ready to fall in love with not only this beautiful wedding but the couple, too! Rachel and Carrigan’s classic celebration in Memphis combined their sweet love for one another with an Italy meets traditional Southern flair! We can’t get enough of the stunning details, and we know you won’t either, so keep scrolling as Rachel fills us in on everything about her day below!
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“His strength. Not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. He’s always there for me and knows if something is wrong before I even tell him. He’s the best supporter in the world and is always lifting me up and helping me in any way he can. He’s my rock.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“For me, it was without a doubt love at first sight.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I’m not the girl that had her wedding planned since she was five years old, and we didn’t want a long engagement so I had 7 months to plan our wedding. I’m a Southern girl with a full-blooded Italian mother so I wanted to try and combine the best of both worlds. I had seen a wedding in Italy that was featured in The Knot magazine and was just in awe. It was glamorous and romantic, but it wasn’t quite us and we weren’t getting married in Italy. So I really just built off of that and combined with my love for classic monograms.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“Our first look!!!! It was on the rooftop of the Peabody Hotel were I was staying. The one thing I love most about weddings is seeing the reaction of the bride and groom during their first look, whether it is down the aisle or before the ceremony. My number one goal for our wedding was to wow him as much as I possibly could in that moment and with the help of our photographer we both were blown away. She had him keep his back turned and I just walked up to him and hugged him. The number of emotions that ran through me during that moment was unforgettable.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“I did the whole something borrowed, something blue, etc. We also did a cake cutting, garter toss, bouquet toss, and all of that. But the main traditions for us were from day one asking my father’s permission and not getting married on a big SEC Game Day.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘I Do’ by Jessie James Decker. I love Jessie Decker and Carrigan would always catch me watching her reality tv show on E!. One day I was watching their wedding episode and was just balling when she sang this song to her husband. I love how genuine her and Eric’s relationship is because it reminds me a lot of Carrigan and me. They’re fun, best friends, and so in love! The song is everything I could have ever wanted to express to him.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“I felt like we were in a movie! We had the grand row of sparklers that we ran through and at the end, there was a vintage Rolls Royce waiting to take us away.”
We wish you all the best, Rachel & Carrigan!
