Pretty in pink! This wedding in Knoxville was full of delicate, wonderful pink details and absolutely stunning florals by Melissa Timm Designs! Even though the temps were a little chillier than expected, these two highschool sweethearts made their special day full of beautiful blooms and sweet love!
How did you meet?
“Taylor and I met in chemistry class at Bearden High School during our sophomore year. Taylor had a mullet. I was not into mullets yet. A friendship soon developed through AIM Instant Messenger. Two years later in the beginning of our senior year, we started dating.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“Taylor and I had known each other for almost 15 years before getting married. We dated in high school, college, grad school, and during the start of our careers. We fell in love in high school during our senior year. We had been friends for 2 years before we started dating. It was for both of us our first serious relationship.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband/wife?
“Our favorite quality of one another is each other’s sense of humor.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I have always loved springtime. It is full of transformations and represents a season of new beginnings. The arrival of spring heralds the return of lush greenery and beautiful flowers. Taylor and I wanted to incorporate the spring season into our wedding day by having our ceremony on RT Lodge’s forest lawn and reception under their Sperry Tent. With the help of Melissa Timm Designs, the ceremony and reception was transformed with beautiful, fragrant floral arrangements.”
How about your dress or attire?
“I had always dreamed of a wedding dress by Anna Campbell. I loved her vintage inspired bohemian dresses. The first dress I tried on was Talia by Ivy and Aster. A stylist at Wildflower picked it out, and I immediately thought before trying it on this is not my dress. I had all the feelings of exclamation that this was my dress when I saw myself. I tried on other dresses including ones by Anna Campbell, but kept thinking about the first one that caught my eye.
I loved that it was mermaid dress with ballet neckline and spaghetti straps in all-over chantilly lace with soft net insets and nude lining. I included a blush sash adorned with flowers and beading for the perfect finishing touch. In addition, I added touches of pink by having a pink fur coat and pink velvet shoes.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“The forecast of our wedding was a high of 44 and low of 27 with a chance of rain and possibly snow. Needless to say, we were somewhat disappointed. The morning of our wedding drizzled with rain and a chillness in the springtime air. We became mesmerized by the quaintness and beauty of nature at RT Lodge with lush greenery, pink dogwoods, and azaleas in full bloom as we took our first look photos. Everywhere we went we could see that spring was in the air and the blessings that followed.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“A unique tradition that Taylor and I incorporated in our ceremony was a family blessing. We strongly believed our wedding was also a celebration of family. It symbolized the blending of two families, separate up to our wedding day, but united from this day forward — blending different traditions and strengthening the family tree. We asked for both of our families to gather around us during the ceremony and provide their blessing.
In addition, we framed wedding day photos of our immediate family and displayed them at the entrance of RT Lodge with a sign stating, ‘Together we represent two hundred ninety years, seven months, and one day of marriage. Years of sharing, caring, and a love of endless giving together with God’s many blessings.’”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Love’ by Nat King Cole was selected as the first dance song for its timeless rendition of the meaning of love. Nat King Cole perfectly illustrates the love shared between a bride and groom with his upbeat jazz and soul inspiration.”
Best wishes Stephanie and Taylor!
