Matt and I grew up in Knoxville and went to Farragut High School but never knew each other. It’s funny how we never met because we had a lot of the same friends growing up. I think God wasn’t ready for us to meet until we grew up a little. Matt lived in Atlanta, and I lived in Charlotte when we met. Mutual friends introduced us while I was on a trip to Atlanta. Matt moved to Charlotte, and we dated for a few years. Matt’s proposal was very romantic and included a painting of a theater in Charlotte by a local artist. The marque said “Will you marry me?” and I said yes!

Our ceremony was at Concord United Methodist in Farragut. Our wedding party served at the church’s decoration. We wanted a simple wedding ceremony with beautiful music honoring Christ. Our color palate was the colors of nature: navy, lime green, gray, and ivory. For the reception, Matt’s wonderful family friend, Jan Hall, helped to make our wedding day perfect. Jan owns The Reserve at Bluebird Hill, and I consider this venue my “jumping off” point. I wanted to be married in September, and The Reserve couldn’t have been more beautiful, warm, and inviting. Because it is a horse farm, I decided to decorate with mason jars and lanterns with candles all around the venue. I chose patterned tablecloths that warmed up the space. Small flower bouquets filled the mason jars and galvanized containers. Our florist, Sassafras, did a flawless job with our bouquets and with decorating the space. We rented a tent with twinkle lights for the outdoor space and made the garden look truly magical at night. We didn’t have a dance floor, just the soft grass at The Reserve. Abner’s Attic designed each food station as if they were pieces of art. Stations included soup shooters, assorted salads, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The groom’s cake included chocolate fondue with original dippers like bacon. A family friend made wedding cupcakes which was a very special addition. A guest later described our wedding day as “country chic.” We think this a perfect description of our vision and later the reality of our most perfect wedding day!

For our honeymoon, we wanted to go somewhere neither of us have been. We chose Maui, Hawaii. Matt planned the entire trip, including a rental jeep and the most beautiful hotels. Every night had a surprise including dinner plans, flowers, or champagne, compliments of the hotel! We had one really big surprise on our trip, however! We got in a wreck with a crazy Hawaiian driver! Everyone was ok though!
