April Barrett & Andrew Richmond

Andrew has always blown me away, and his proposal definitely exceeded any dream I could have ever imagined! We are both teachers in different school districts. We both had President’s Day off and decided that we were going to spend the day in Pigeon Forge and go to the Titanic Museum while we were down there. His sister, brother, sister-in-law, and niece met us there. We went through about half of the museum and arrived at the Grand Staircase, which is designed perfectly to scale as it was on the original Titanic. There was a “ship captain” telling us to come up the Grand Staircase and began telling us about the story of Jack and Rose and how they fell in love there. What I didn’t know was that when the “ship captain” asked us to come up the Grand Staircase, we were the only two that followed him. At the top of the staircase, Andrew got down on one knee and said, “April, you are the love of my life, my princess, and my angel. April, will you marry me!” I had known very early on that Andrew was the man that I would spend the rest of my life with, and I was so excited that that journey would begin soon!

Our wedding day was truly the ending to a fairytale! One of my favorite parts of the day was when Andrew and I had our first look. We decided to have a private moment to see each other before the wedding. This was one of the biggest moments of the day for us! Andrew decided that he wanted us to have our first look on the staircase inside of Allandale Mansion. Andrew anxiously waited for me at the bottom of the stairs. When I had gotten about halfway down the staircase, I asked Andrew to turn around, and I began telling him how much he meant to me. It was such a perfect moment for both of us.

Our wedding ceremony went very smoothly! We were married on the front steps of the Allandale Mansion. I arrived to the ceremony in a beautiful horse and carriage, and after we were married, we rode away in it! Andrew was the most helpful man in the wedding planning process. Andrew was with me every step of the way and was a part of planning all of the decisions. He went with me to as many meetings as he could! He was even by my side for the small decisions, such as what we were having embossed on our napkins. His encouragement and help made wedding planning with him fun and not as stressful!
