If one word could describe Sydnee & Travis’s wedding day, joyful definitely comes to mind! These almost high school sweethearts (you’ll find out more on their years long love story below) are just the cutest and their wedding day is no different! We are big fans of their venue Smith Event Centers and how it played so well with their pink and blue color palette! Start scrolling to fall in love!
How did you meet?
“We both grew up in Maryville and went to Maryville High School. We hit it off sophomore year in chemistry class flirting and competing to see who could get higher test scores. We talked off and on through junior year and went on a couple dates but I was unwilling to make anything official. Senior year we ended up going to prom together and had a wonderful time. Then the day after graduation we went on a date to celebrate Travis’s birthday and we dated the rest of the summer. However, I once again tried to call it off before leaving for college because I thought long distance would be too hard. Even though I went to Lee University and Travis stayed in Maryville and went to UTK, we never stopped talking. We saw each other almost every weekend and talked every day. So on November 1st, 2014 we officially became boyfriend-girlfriend and haven’t stopped dating each other since.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“I think I knew during prom. I had such a good time with him that I knew I could easily fall for him. But I think Travis knew during chemistry class.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband/wife?
Sydnee: “His dependability. No matter what, he never lets me down and I can depend on him for anything and everything. He will always come through and his friends and family could attest to that.”
Travis: “Her love for me. And her willingness to be flexible with me and all of my habits.”
Hardest part of wedding planning?
“Making decisions. I am very indecisive and took a long time to decide on different parts of the wedding like colors, invitations, and many other things. Thankfully, Lara, my wedding planner and now sister-in-law, pushed me and helped me finally make decisions. I was not the type of girl who grew up dreaming of her perfect wedding day and what it would look like, I was more of the type that only dreamed about the man I would be marrying.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I did not. I liked the romantic look and knew I liked the colors pink and blue. But I am a very simplistic person who isn’t very flashy with my attire or styles that I like.”
How about your dress or attire?
“After trying on several dresses, my maid of honor, Audrey, picked my dress off the rack and as soon as I saw it I knew that would probably be the one. I loved the strapless sweetheart with the a-line. It fit perfectly and it had POCKETS. My MOH and I both cried when I put it on and so did several others with us like my mom. It was a simple ivory dress with no lace or sequence. However, when I got it hemmed, I had a belt made from my mother’s wedding dress put onto my dress.”
What was the most memorable moment?
S: “My most memorable moment was finally making it to the altar, standing in front of Travis with my hands in his. Realizing that the moment I had been waiting for all my life had finally arrived and I was about to marry the man of my dreams. It was so surreal and one of the best feelings. I could not stop staring in his eyes and smiling with joy.”
T: “My most memorable moment was walking down the aisle after we were married and seeing how happy Sydnee looked.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Speechless’ by Dan + Shay. Travis loved this song and he almost chose this song to propose to me with. The whole week before he proposed he sang the song almost everyday he was around me and then I knew why once he proposed and said he almost played that song. So we thought it fitting to be our first dance song.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“We played ‘This is It’ by Scotty McCreery, another of Travis’s favorites, and walked through our friends and families holding out sparklers.”
Congratulations again Sydnee & Travis!
