We’re definitely feeling the gifting spirit with this absolute treat of a wedding we sharing today! Chelsea & Josh’s special day featured romantic, vintage touches that Chelsea and her mom found while antique shopping! We love how it reflects her personal style, while also having a beautiful, elegant feel! One of our favorite parts of this wedding was the snow exit! So fun and perfect for this time of year! See it all below with BTS from the bride!
How did you meet?
“We have known each other since high school. We started hanging out and going on dates together our senior year. We made the decision not to date since we would be attending different colleges. A few months into our freshman year of college, it became obvious that our feelings for each other were undeniable. We dated long distance for 4 years while Josh attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville getting his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I stayed in Kingsport and attended Lincoln Memorial University and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science. We dated almost 8 years before getting engaged.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband?
“He can make me laugh during any situation, even if I am mad at him.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“The look I was going for was simplicity with boho inspiration and a vintage flare. I like to be different and wanted my wedding to be different and non-traditional. I wanted to incorporate my simple style and love for DIY and thrifting. My mom and I spent many weekends antique shopping in thrift stores for pieces to incorporate into my reception. I love being able to recreate a look for a fraction of the cost, so I thoroughly enjoyed DIY-ing a lot of my wedding and hunting for the best value items!”
How about your dress or attire?
“My wedding dress search was one for the books. If I had to guess, I would say I looked at 10 different stores before finding my dress. I had a vision of the gown I wanted and each place we went, I was unable to find the whole package. I would love the top of a dress but not the bottom or vice versa. I am a very simple person and knew that I didn’t want rhinestones, fancy tulle, or elegance. I envisioned a fitted gown made of lace for the vintage look that I love so much. Tricia Edwards with Tricia’s by Design in Fort Blackmore, VA was my saving grace. She was able to help me find the most perfect gown that she customized to exactly what I had envisioned. My dress was by Casablanca. A blush colored, fit and flare gown with a plunging neckline made of beautiful chantilly lace. The back was an illusion back with beautiful pearls as buttons and a cathedral train with scalloped edging. It was everything I imagined in a sophisticated, feminine, vintage dress.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“Some will laugh at this, but the most memorable moment at our wedding happened at the reception. My husband is a die hard Vol fan. When Rocky Top began to play, our friends lifted us up on their shoulders and began to parade us around during Rocky Top. It was awesome. Go Vols!”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Unchained Melody.’ Music is Josh’s passion and he has a much better taste in music than I do, so I put Josh in charge of selecting our first dance song. I was happy with what he chose and thought that it had such great lyrical meaning.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“From the moment I began planning, I knew that I wanted something different for an exit. I searched Pinterest for weeks before I found something I loved! With our wedding being in December, what better way than a snowflake exit? I purchased Ecofetti which is fake snow that was biodegradable so it wouldn’t harm anything outside. Next, I had to decide how to showcase the fake snow. I made paper cones from church hymnal books and placed the snow in the paper cones. This really tied in a vintage feel as well and turned out to be one of my favorite DIY projects of my planning. The sign at the sendoff table read ‘Let it snow as we go.’”
Congratulations once again Chelsea & Josh!
