I’m always up for multitasking purchases, and that’s especially true when it comes to purchasing the items needed to throw a fabulous party. That being said, I decided to search around for a few options to use at a couple’s shower for décor that can double as gifts for the bride and groom long after the party is over. That’s a win-win for everyone!

What’s a couple’s shower, you might ask?

It’s very similar to a traditional bridal shower in that people bring gifts, but it’s different in that it’s more openly inviting to men since they know other guys will be attending. In other words, both male and female guests will be in attendance. The trick is to keep the men entertained enough – yet still involved in the process – to keep the evening going at a fun, excited pace. So, without further ado, here are six pointers and items for including the guys and the gals in a couple’s shower, as well as a few fab options to use throughout the party that can double as gifts for the bride and groom later!

1. Make sure your invitation lists that it’s a couple’s shower – not just another bridal shower.

Otherwise, no guy will likely set foot within a 10-mile radius of the location. Keep it fun, light, and promise food and drinks to lure more guests (ahem, guys) in.

2. Get creative with the table décor.

My suggestion? Snagging a bunch of these adorable tags I spotted on Etsy to place on bottles of wine (or sparkling cider) and use within the décor on each guest table. This would make fabulous conversation pieces everyone will join in on. But, make sure guests know they can’t crack these bottles open! They’re for the bride and groom to take home at the end of the night to store until each occasion arises.

3. Have a double-duty cake topper.

Practically every wedding shower boasts a cake. Dress it up with a custom cake topper the bride and groom can use on the big day or take home to display in their new home!

4. Chill drinks in a custom beverage tub.

The bride and groom can take this after the shower as well and either use on their big day or each time they throw another party in their new home!

By the way, the beverage “tub” (also referred to as a chiller or bucket) is almost always forgotten at weddings I’ve been to, so this will be a fun way to make sure their champagne is cold by the time the toasting ceremony rolls around at the reception!

5. Let no drink go unnoticed with customized glassware!

Okay, so this is definitely one of my favorite ideas. Give the bride and groom the gift of fun, customized glassware by serving all drinks in it throughout the party. Just make sure guests understand they need to return the glasses at the end of the night. (Use a sign or two to remind them to return their glasses to the bar.) Not thinking that’s a good idea? Just have the bride and groom drink out of the personalized glasses, and keep the rest stored away for quick maneuvering after the shower.

6. Have a fun (edible!) guest favor at the end of the celebration.

To avoid eye rolls by the men, think food or totally useful – and gender neutral. Avoid girly colors in packaging, and make sure what they’re taking home is something they can either eat or use fairly regularly. This can be a fun caramel apple favor like I have listed above, or it can be something a little less involved, like personalized bottle openers.
