Rachel and Charles’ navy June wedding with amazing photos by Elizabeth Looney Photography is warming our hearts in this cold weather! Think charming garden party meets refined elegance, and that’s exactly what you get with this wedding! We are loving the chic, sophisticated color scheme with pops of orange and pink, the dazzling details in their attire, and most importantly their true happiness to be married!
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I was inspired by our venue and really wanted something classic and elegant, but reflective of us. My theme I would say was vintage romance meets garden party – a little bit of a tradition and a touch of whimsy.”
What traditions did you incorporate?
“Because I’m a little superstitious, we spent the night before our wedding apart and did not see each other until just before the ceremony. As the bride, I also made sure to have, ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence for the shoe.’
Our goal was to have as much fun and time to party as possible, so we kept the wedding and reception to the essentials: a ceremony with vows, a ring exchange, and a first kiss; a welcome and thank you toast; a bouquet toss; and lots of dancing.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“The big smile on his face the moment we first saw each other.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Stay with You’ – John Legend. We went through many songs trying to find the right one. When we heard this one, we both immediately felt it described us and our relationship the best. We’ve been together a long time and our love has only grown, which is exactly what the song expresses.”
Was the planning process as stressful as you imagined?
“It was almost exactly as expected with a few surprises here and there.”
What would you recommend to every bride-to-be?
“When your big day finally arrives, just let go and enjoy. Leave the decisions and the details to people you trust and the professionals you’ve hired.”
Best wishes Rachel and Charles!
