Trends we will continue to see as we progress forward in 2017 consist of earthy vibes, emanating comfort, tranquility, and ease of execution. The days of “stealth wealth” have been replaced with understated opulence for the whole of 2017. Color trends are varied, yet seem to stay consistent with layering. This layering effect will also showcase the garment fabrics and linens utilized. We combined each of these wedding style elements into our fashion editorial shoot for the Memphis Spring 2017 Pink Bride Magazine.
Even the most beautiful indoor spaces are starting to give more outdoor options for weddings. Bringing nature into photo opportunities has been a trend we will continue to see more of. Utilizing a venue’s outdoor space as a backdrop or incorporating natural elements like wood and stone into indoor spaces is ultra fashionable and perfect for the modern rustic bride. Pantone released Greenery as the color of 2017 in early January. Garland and hanging chandeliers dripping with leafy greens are all the rage.
Non-Traditional Dessert Bars
Candy bars and donut bars are being replaced with dessert bars overfilled with French pastries drizzled with icing and sprinkled with fresh berries. Organic, gluten-free and locally sourced breads will be making appearances yet again as the health-conscious couple continues to care for their guests’ dietary needs. The comfort and warmth these dessert bars create make them a top choice for a cozy wedding!
Layers of Love
Layers of tulle and lace will be prevalent in wedding attire as well as table linens. A lace cloth may be seen overlaying a beautiful satin fabric on tablescapes then layering again with a blanket of greenery or some other texture. Many brides will opt for wedding gown skirts that are fuller and more fabulous than ever. We have seen these overlapping fabrics on the runways, and they do not seem to be going away anytime soon.
It comes as no surprise that in our tech driven culture couples are looking for more ways to use technology to the fullest in their special day. Dramatic color-scheme uplighting provided by audio/visual companies will see an increase this season. Custom monogram lighting and the latest in image mapping can transform spaces into fairy tale moving pictures. On a budget? Focus on lighting, food, and cake presentations for amazing results.
When it comes to bridesmaid dresses, Greek-inspired breezy lines are what’s in style. Bridesmaids will continue to choose a color palette as their dress option rather than a single color – this goes for dress designs as well. Embracing continuity in bridesmaids dresses, yet each maintaining their own individuality reflects this mix and match approach to bridesmaid fashion we will continue to love this season. Your bridesmaids will adore you for giving them the opportunity to find a dress that suits their body type and personal style.
Good-Bye Flower Crowns
We all loved them, but knew this love affair would someday come to an end. Flower crowns are being replaced with floral hair accessories as well as beaded vintage clips. Try a blend of flowers on one side or clip to the back of your wedding hair up-do. Vintage markets are great places to find adorned hair clips compiled of pearls and jewels aplenty, but bridal shops are catching on as well and are sure to have options available for their fashion-forward brides.
Pops of Color
Although many weddings will still be holding on to muted tones, more weddings this season will be springing up with bold pops of color. As wedding couples maneuver through their wedding design planning, creating a color palette unique to them will be chosen more often over what’s “on trend.” Couples will undoubtedly be looking for ways to incorporate their personal style and color choices will be the first trend to fly out the window in an effort to stay true to their particular preferences.
