Every now and then, one unique couple comes along and picks a truly epic wedding theme.

I’m talking about a theme that leaves your jaw hanging open – sometimes in good ways, sometimes…in not-so-good ways – and you can’t help but love (or cringe) when you see it!

Pinterest has its pros and cons as a wedding planning tool. However, it’s fabulous at giving you a wide range of the best and worst themes for a wedding! Check out a few of my favorite picks (so far) from The Pink Bride’s Theme Weddings board on Pinterest, and follow the account today for weekly wedding inspiration – regardless of your theme.

1. Star anything Wedding Theme

Every wedding needs stationery and details that match the theme. And oh, do these couples and options go all out!

How to keep the force with you: Remember that every piece of your wedding stationery sets the tone for your event, and theme details look best when subtle and surprising. You can have an amazing theme wedding and still opt for a classy overall look. Consider hinting at your theme with your wedding stationery and details, rather than boldly going where no bride or groom has gone before.

2. Mad Hatter Tea Party Wedding Theme

Okay. I’m just going to say it. This theme can either be freaky or downright cute, depending on how you decorate your surroundings (and especially yourself!).

I’m a much bigger fans of these options…

How to grin like the Cheshire cat years later: Nix the stage makeup unless you’re wanting the costume party feel to overshadow your nuptials, and consider super quaint décor and attire options that seem both classy and tongue-in-cheek at the same time.

3. Superhero Wedding Theme

I’ve seen this done so many times, but I always tend to find something new and adorable with each event.

How to keep your powers flowing throughout the evening: Try subtle additions that somehow surprise guests throughout the evening. My favorite options include superhero boutonnières, a cute bride and groom cake, and fun table centerpieces.

4. Lord of the Rings Wedding Theme

Can’t everyone attest to having at least one friend or family member who went a little “off the deep end” over the LOTR trilogy of movies (and books)? I can. That’s precisely why I get a little nervous when I hear this theme mentioned for a wedding. However, it obviously can be quite tastefully done!

How to bend this theme to your will: Take a cue from Sean Parker’s LOTR themed wedding. Seriously. All day, any day, I’m a fan.

5. Disney Wedding Theme

This theme can be oh-so-very-sweet and gorgeous! Or, hopelessly puzzling.

I’m definitely are more partial to these details…

How to keep from turning your wedding theme into a pumpkin at midnight:  Basically, it’s simple. Think real-life elegance with sweet nods to your inspiration – rather than building your theme from a literal cartoon translation.

When it comes to theme weddings, keep the day focused and classy by putting your union in the spotlight – not just the theme itself. It’s easy for theme weddings to get big and out-of-hand fast! Make sure your attire and the décor don’t get so distracting to guests that they (or you!) lose focus as to why they’re actually there in the first place.
