A classic color palette, timeless details, and a hint of Italian romance? Yes, please! If all those things interest you, then you’re going to be on cloud 9 with Raine & Joseph’s wedding day! Because we sure are! We could go on for days about all the different things we love about this day, but we’ll let you decide for yourself. See it all below and let us know in the comments your favorite part!
How did you meet?
“Joseph and I met one summer on the Tennessee River in Alabama. I was out wakeboarding with some people and they were going to pick up another friend. That person happened to be Joseph’s cousin and he had just come by to visit with her! He ended up coming out with us on the boat that day and we instantly connected. By the end of that year, we were dating!”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“I began to fall in love with Joseph after our first date. We went to see a movie – The Hunger Games – and I was really trying to stay cool and relaxed. I went into that date thinking we were just going to be friends, but as we walked out of the movie he reached over and took my hand. I just felt something shift in myself, and I knew we would be in this for the long haul.”
What is your favorite quality in your husband/wife?
R: “My favorite quality about Joseph is that he is such an independent thinker. He loves to learn new things and is the least biased person I know. You can always tell when talking to him how genuine and authentic he is in himself.”
J: “My favorite quality about Raine is her attitude towards life. She just has such a positive outlook on everything.”
Hardest part of wedding planning?
“The hardest thing about wedding planning was juggling being in graduate school and planning at the same time! Managing my time and travel could be traveling at times, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It was so so much fun!”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“The best piece of advice I got was not to pick a theme, but to pick different design inspirations that I liked and combine them all together. From those different designs, a ‘theme’ would emerge over time. We eventually ended up with a timeless, Tuscan design that we absolutely loved and felt completely like us.”
How about your dress or attire?
“I went to multiple bridal salons, but always felt that I would find my dress at Adorn Nashville, formally known as Posh Bridal Nashville. My mom and sister went with me that day. The salon sat me down and asked what I envisioned for the day as well as what type of dresses I had already tried. I fell in love with one of the first dresses they pulled for me! It has a beautiful low back and timeless beaded neckline. I’m named after my grandmother, and as I put it on, I just felt her with me. It was such a surreal moment! I also got my veil from them as well, it went so beautifully with my dress!”
What was the most memorable moment?
“So many! One of my favorite moments was after our ceremony and family pictures. We escaped upstairs for a private dinner for a few moments alone before the reception began. As soon as we got up there he loosened his tie and we both kicked off our shoes and put our feet up in the chairs next to us. It was our first moment alone together as husband and wife, as well as that day in general and it was so so special hearing all our friends and family downstairs, looking out over our ceremony and reception sites, and talking about the day thus far.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“We thought hard on this one. Joseph wanted something timeless and classic. We decided on Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. He’s one of our favorite artists and we listen to the song all the time when we spend time at the river together. It’s really special too because we know the song will be played for years to come.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“Right before our grand exit, our DJ cleared the dance floor for us to have the last dance of the night to Tennessee Whiskey. We were so so sweaty from the humidity and Joseph had lost his coat and tie by that point. His shirt was untucked and my hair was starting to fall and stick to my face, but we didn’t care because we were so happy. We had a sparkler exit and after, Joseph picked me up and put me in his truck for our ‘getaway’ while the rest of our guests headed out. While we waited, we walked out in WindRivers golf course and Joseph picked up a golf ball and wrote our wedding date on it. It felt so special walking underneath the stars as husband and wife to end our wedding day.”
We wish you the best lives together Raine & Joseph!
