Cady and Alex’s color-filled day at Castleton Farms is exactly what you dream of for a Spring wedding! Beautiful sweeping pastels, a gorgeous wedding venue filled with the blooms of the season, and this couple who can’t get enough of one another? Yes, please! Even the rain couldn’t stop these two!
Be prepared to be swept off your feet with loads of inspiration and insight from the bride herself!
What is your favorite quality in your husband/wife?
Cady: “I love how he can always make me laugh.”
Alex: “How thoughtful she is.”
When did you know you were falling in love?
“Let’s just say it was love at first song. We were both pretty smitten after our hilarious first date at a local karaoke bar in Knoxville. After serenading me with Weird Al’s ‘Like A Surgeon’ and Spice Girls’ ‘Two Become One’ I knew I wanted to keep this guy around forever.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“I love when you think of spring, you think of pastels. I was really inspired by watercolors, too. I also wanted to incorporate a metallic tone and decided to use rose gold and copper accents with our decor. My engagement ring is rose gold, so it made perfect sense.”
“We also tried to incorporate our medical backgrounds within elements of the wedding. For our guest book since we are both professionals in healthcare, we allowed our guests to fill out prescriptions for a happy marriage. His groom’s cake was a replica of the Operation game, and I gifted him surgical scalpel cufflinks on our wedding day. Our wedding favors were mini ‘first aid kits with ‘In Sickness and In Health’ printed on them filled with bandaids, lifesaver candies, emergency powder, hand sanitizers, and some ibuprofen.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“Our first dance song was ‘From the Ground Up’ by Dan and Shay. We both really loved the lyrics when we first heard it. I think it spoke to me because I had always had a great example of the what building love from the ground up looks like with my maternal grandparents. Coincidentally, my grandparents would be celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary the same year Alex and I would be married.
We decided we wanted to have them join us on the dance floor for our first dance. It was my favorite part of our wedding reception and I am so glad we did. We unexpectedly lost my grandmother 10 days after Alex and I were married. Some of the last pictures and video I have of her were at my wedding dancing with us. Alex and I can only hope to be the legacy of love to our grandchildren that they have been to us.”
We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness to build that legacy, Cady & Alex!
