Favorite aspect of your wedding?

“The uniqueness. We chose the Knoxville Zoo because we wanted a unique wedding not many people have! Plus we love animals! It was amazing being able to see live animals for photos and the cocktail hour! Our guests loved it!”

Did you have any specific design inspiration for your big day?

“We chose to keep it simple and elegant. We wanted lots of romantic candles, fairy-tale like flowers and greenery (like our arch!), and to keep the zoo theme! We chose to have animal print napkins, paper straws and our guest book was a journal from the Knoxville Zoo! We wanted to mix in the elegance along with keeping the unique theme!”

Was there a part of your wedding that held a personal significance to you or your spouse?

“Our wedding vows, we worked on them together and decided to keep the same vow at the end, ‘I am yours and you are mine, from this day until my last.’ Also, our first dance! It was Billy’s favorite song when he was little! We made sure to tie in special meanings (decor etc) all across our wedding!”

What was the hardest part of wedding planning?

“Keeping all the changes together! We changed up so many details it was hard to keep up. Thankfully the Zoo provided a planner and day of coordinator, so all our changes were emailed and kept track of! A few things may have been missed but it turned out great!”

What was your first dance song?

“It was ‘From this Moment On’ by Shania Twain. This song was special to us because the artist has been a favorite of the groom since childhood! His parents even have a homemade video of him dancing to her when he was a baby!”

Tell us about your grand exit!

“Sparkler exit! This has been one of my favorite wedding trends since it came out! The Zoo provided us with the sparklers and all our friends in family lined up to wish us well. It was so magical! We loved seeing the sparks fly under the bistro lighting! Then we rode away on our golf cart!”

What do you look forward to most as newlyweds?

“Starting our own life! We are working on our fixer upper home and just enjoying our time together.”

What has surprised you most during the first few months of marriage?

“How long it took us to actually feel married! We have been together so long – it was almost like nothing changed. But now after a few months, we are learning to trust each other more. It’s great, we have finally become “one” and our love keeps growing everyday. It’s amazing how much more you can love and trust a person even when you thought there was no possible way too!”
