The love story…

We met through friends in 2006 and became good friends over the years, even as we lived in different cities. Once we had our first date in 2011, we were engaged for seven weeks later and married within a year. When you know, you know!

How did your groom help plan?

Luckily, we both love to throw a good party, so we were pretty equally involved in the planning process. Tim has a musical background and worked for a commercial lighting company while in college, so he took the lead on coordinating with the band and setting up lighting for the reception. Once the sun set, the lighting in the room created a really neat atmosphere.

Describe your wedding for us!

We actually did a destination ceremony, and then had a celebration back in Knoxville with all of our family and friends. We got married on the beach in Antigua, and that trip was our honeymoon. We wanted our ceremony to be simple, with the focus on us, God, and our life together. We had planned our reception for three weeks after we returned, and it was great to be able to celebrate with everyone then.

Detail your reception for us.

We were just excited to celebrate with everyone at the reception, and the most important thing to us was that everyone had a great time. Our biggest splurge for the reception was our band, Burning Las Vegas. They truly put on a great show. We also wanted great food and great pictures.

What is your advice for future brides?

When a bride is planning her wedding, we suggest making it unique. Our photographer, Danielle Evans, was awesome to work with. We didn’t give her a ton of direction, and she did a great job capturing everything. The pictures will last forever, and we are so glad to have them.

What do you remember most about your celebration?

Having been to lots of weddings ourselves, we always appreciate the details that make it unique, but what we remember most is how much fun everyone has and the love in the room.
