If you aren’t used to having your picture taken by a professional photographer, your engagement photography date may be a little bit daunting to you. This shouldn’t be, though! Thanks to the absolutely fabulous Leah Bullard of Leah Bullard Photography, we have the top five aspects of your photography session that you shouldn’t worry about below…whether it’s your engagement session or your wedding day! Read on to learn how to de-stress the photography surrounding the happiest day of your life.
1. Do not worry about skin or hair problems.
While your photographer won’t make you look like a totally different person, he or she can absolutely edit your photos to perfection when it comes to skin or hair issues. Smile pretty! You’re gorgeous – and your photographer will help your beauty shine through in an oh-so-you way.
2. Rules? What rules?
When it comes to photography that embodies who you are as a couple, rules pretty much go out the window. As Leah states, “You should just be yourself!” Furthermore, who cares if your outfits, hairstyles, or other details match? “Wear what makes you, you,” explains Leah. In other words, be yourself – and don’t worry about anything else.
3. Do not ever be self-conscious.
Your love for each other alone already makes you as beautiful as you can be…so let it show! “It’s my job to make you look great,” Leah details. “I will let you know if a certain pose or angle looks less-than-perfect…otherwise, just show your love for one another, and I’ll take care of the rest!”
4. Ignore onlookers.
Unless you’re on a secluded, privately owned property, you likely will have onlookers. Accept this beforehand, and be prepared to ignore it! “Just focus on each other,” states Leah. “Don’t let an audience bother you – it always happens.” Realize that they’re looking because they notice how beautifully in-love you look, and go with it. As Leah explains, just think to yourself, “You rule this!”
5. PDA (Public Displays of Affection) is awesome here.
“Feel comfortable enough to be yourself,” coaxes Leah. “Let your hair down!” In other words, block everything and everyone out, and focus on your love for each other. The more you let this show through, the more beautiful your pictures will be!
As noted in Leah’s Spotlight post, she believes in creating lasting relationships with her clients. Her focus isn’t on just being a wedding photographer – she loves documenting milestones in your life both before and long after the “I dos.” In fact, many of her clients come back year after year to have her photograph the many beautiful changes in their lives!
