This themed wedding at the Memphis Zoo is the absolute cutest — and so perfect for this wildly in love couple! Katie even has a giraffe at the zoo named after her! How cute, right? Of course, they had to incorporate Katie the Giraffe into their wedding, too, with the most adorable cake topper! The soft, romantic feel of the rest of their decor accented the venue space delightfully, and we are in LOVE! Get the behind-the-scenes details from Joey below!
When did you know you were falling in love?
Joey: “Through our dating years, I knew she was the one when I was deciding whether to move back home or not.”
What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?
“‘Sea of Love.’ We liked the lyrics because they are simple but meaningful. Katie’s cousin sang and played, too.”
Did you have a specific theme or design inspiration for your big day?
“Katie was the millionth visitor at the zoo in 2006. A giraffe that was born that same day was named after her, and she was made a lifetime member. We also had one of our first dates at the Zoo Brew, so a wedding at the Memphis Zoo was the perfect fit.”
Tell us about your grand exit!
“My family are LSU fans and her family are Ole Miss fans. Both sides had pom poms cheering as we left holding our opposing team’s colors.”
What was the most memorable moment?
“The LSU and Ole Miss pom poms as we departed reception!”
Congratulations Katie and Joey from all of us at The Pink Bride!
